- Stray Cat Food Stations
A stray cat food station is a wooden box containing cat food and water for starving stray cats. These stations are designed to resolve civil complaints about stray cats as they rip up garbage and create excess noise when female cats are in heat, and make Gangdong a city where humans and animals coexist in harmony.
Since May 2013, a total of 60 stray cat stations have been installed in public organization buildings, public facilities, and residential areas.
After implementation of this program, civil complaints about stray cats have been significantly reduced.
In addition, along with the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) project, the total stray cat population decreased by 800 in 2015.
This stray cat food station concept is being introduced as an exemplary care service in other local governments and has contributed to laying the foundation of the animal welfare project in Gangdong-gu.
